Novine History > Siege of Ar-Gilema

Most of the occupied lands had been set free from their vicious rulers, but one bastion stood left, the great Gleyk city of Ar Gilema, held in a strong grip by King Liphot and a vast legion of Gleyks and thrall Nennings. The siege of Ar Gilema would go into history as one of the greatest battles of the new world and with it followed a great sacrifice! Greatly outnumbered the rebels fought bravely against their foe and as he saw King Liphot lead his Gleyks into battle, Ason knew that his day had come – the day where he would fulfil his destiny! In a furious duel against the Gleyk king himself Ason slew his adversary but fell to the creature’s vile poison!

A sigh of despair went through the ranks of his men as they saw their prophet fall. But as the men watched the river swelled with roaring waves as if the death of Ason had somehow arisen it’s anger. It is said that a mighty wave washed the Gleyks away and that strange majestic creatures rose from the water to aid the rebels. Once again, the Old Ones had pledged themselves to help Ason. The Gleyks fled in terror as they recognized their ancient adversary and as the union of people rushed towards the gates of Ar Gilema they saw a strange sight in the red skies. As they marvelled, a swarm of strange creatures appeared over the city. They were like gigantic moths or butterflies and mounted on their backs were tiny warriors armed with spears.

This was the first time the Novines met the small people, the Hvoves who had flown across the Avoa to aid them, and as the Hvove riders swooped down from the skies a legion of Cuivings and Blonians appeared from the western forests – their blonian ally, Queen Inkila had not forgotten her vow and with new strength the alliance battered against the walls of Ar Gilema. Soon warships from the south would join them by river as well, as their Khalen allies arrived. The Gleyks were terrified by the presence of the Old Ones and the Nennings who had been their slaves for many years suddenly abandoned their masters. Rumours spread that someone had destroyed the rulerstone by which the Gleyks controlled their minions and as their last ally deserted them, the might of the Scarab Lords were finally broken. Ar Gilema fell and with it the last reminiscence of the Gleyk empire. A new era was about to begin, one that would be ruled by the Novines and their allies!
