Novine History > Forming the Regno

By time Libria became the beginning of a new empire known as the Regno. Native Cuivings and Nennings saw their homeland transform into a growing centre of trade, science and a new culture. A movement among the Novines known as the Erua Celta – or Hidden Dawn – ceased power, promises of freedom and equality were forgotten, and in the centuries that followed the Novines began to expand their power and influence throughout the new world. Lead by their holy Cyrion, who took the title as Ric Teutis Dei – King of Gods People, the ambitious Novines became an aggressive power that gradually swallowed its neighbours, reintroduced slavery, and through a series of wars and conquests gained control over vast parts of the new world.

Many centuries passed, the Old Ones left the world, and with them memories of the Dark Ages became nothing more than a legend. The Novines and their Bremian cousins had become one people, trade with Blonians had spawned a growing population of Divaluans and as the empire grew new frontiers emerged. To the south, the Khalens became a powerful ally and from this union came the dark-skinned Asfarians – mixed with the blood of two great civilizations. At the end of the first millennium The Regno stretches across most of Hiphendria, the great northern continent and the Novines are at the peak of their power. Through an elaborate colonial system they govern a vast array of provinces controlled by a trinity of nobility, the powerful Novine church and the wealthy merchant guild. Roads, caravans and river boats ensure a flow of goods, castles protect the passes and ports, granaries bulge with supplies and fleets patrol the south seas in search of pirates and new lands to conquer. This is how the story of the Regno ends, for now…
