Setting the Scene

The year is 1368 A.N. and the world has changed! The Regno is but a relic from the past as the mighty Concordia now rules the people of modern Cailorubia. The great metropolis of Askuhir is now the centre of the Concordia, and the former Regno is under administration by the Hespirah and the Sibyllah. Through the Concordia Novines, Khalens, Blonians, Hvoves and Maril have created a new frontier and a common enemy. To the south the Gjuron empire threatens to overrun the alliance, and from the west and north a strange alliance of Sar-Khalens and Gleyks control the neighbouring regions attempting to spread their influence to the erratic Nennings north of the allied territories. At the moment the Nennings are part of the Concordia but some fear their recurrent disputes with the Novines might one day break that alliance. From the inside the Concordia has problems of its own. Novine rebel movements such as the Hidden Dawn Movement are fighting to free their race from the Concordia which they feel has taken away their freedom.

The Blonians strengthened by their new prophet, Inka Bila have banned all foreigners from their cities and walled them with impenetrable shields. With the reformation of their mage guild, the powerful Antihapunfila and the rediscovery of many lost technologies the Blonians are now stronger than ever, a strength which they withhold from the service of the Concordia as a sign of mistrust. Although still a member of the alliance, the Blonians openly criticize the Sibyllah and allow only Divaluans sharing their own blood to enter their territory. As a result of this the Divaluans and their Far Singers have monopolized the flight routes in Cailorubia controlling the huge floating airships that carry goods and passengers throughout the allied territory and tie the provinces together. Despite their growing influence the Divaluans are in harsh competition with the wealthy Asfarians operating the land-based Caravan Company and thus controlling most of the trade-routes and markets of the known world. Half Novine half Khalen, the Asfarians are very loyal to the senate, although adversaries from the Novine church claim their corruption and love for profit is threatening the integrity of the Concordia. Nonetheless generous donations from the Caravan Guild keep both the Senate and The Sibyllah happy and although the Asfarians are known to trade with both the Gjurons, Norgil and Gleyks their actions are seldom questioned.
