Shaper's Guild

The shapers’ guild is a merge of two factions, that of the Khalen stoneshapers and the Novine Woodbenders practising the arts of shaping fungus. Both are masons and engineers and together the two groups have exchanged knowledge to become master builders controlling the growing industry of the Concordia. Through their alliance the two guilds have taught each other many things. The Khalen stoneshapers are an ancient order dating back to the lost homeland of the Khalens where mystic ancestors taught them how to shape stone with their bare hands moulding it into impressive buildings, weapons and items of art.

The art of weaving is a blonian invention allowing skilled masons to build houses from the poisonous Tana fungus using a secret recipe of incense to control the fungus. Light and strong the Tana edifices make a strong partner to the elaborate stone pyramids and temples of the Khalens. Being very secretive about their techniques the Shapers’ Guild has monopolized the field of construction and engineering, and from their stronghold, the fabled Giza structure on Hathria they plan all building sites and constructions throughout the known world.

The shapers house members from all free races although the Novines and Khalens seem to play a dominant role. Easily recognized on their purple robes and golden plated helms protecting them against the harmful spores of the Tana fungus, the shapers are a common sight throughout the Concordia. Through their impressive work they have earned much respect from the people of the new world, although their well-known addiction to the merrick leaf – which they smoke from ornate pipes to quell the symptoms of working with the fungus – have somehow blemished their reputation and at times twisted their behaviour. The Shapers are eager to expand industry which have often lead them to conflict with the conservative Boilers who wish to protect the wild. In such disputes the Shapers often lean on the Caravan Co. with whom they share many common interests.
