While Novines suffered a cruel fate of thraldom there were others who fought to withstand the rule of the scarabs and during the next centuries the world began to change. Pacts were made, others were broken, many wars were fought and slowly a strong alliance emerged waiting for their chance to overthrow the six-legged. It is said in ancient myths that a people called the Old Ones would rise from their slumber to fight the Gleyks and that their wrath would end the age of thraldom. Two people played a leading role in the early liberation wars – the Blonians and the Khalens. Both were pilgrims like the Novines although they had come to Cailorubia much earlier. During the next centuries the two people would gradually form an alliance as they waited for the emergence of a mythic people – the old ones, who were to mark the dusk of the scarab and put an end to the Gleyk reign.
