Nennings > Ways of the Spirits
The gangling Nennings are tall and slender with strange oblong faces edged and weather-beaten like the face of a wild dog or horse hardened by the harsh wastelands. Nennings are among the mourning people yet most of them have strayed from the path of the great mother to become fierce warriors and hunters.
Nennings worship two main gods, Idrass, the mother of the wild, and Drunimn, the lord of the hunt. Both are shamanistic religions where trees, plants and animals play an important role, especially the twelve Galvi, the totemic animal ancestors of the Nenning tribes. Lead mainly by the chieftains of the mighty Horjalv, an ancient tradition of warrior-hunter culture, the Nenning society differs much from that of the Concordia. Nennings believe strongly in the individual, they’re loners with little or no ties to family except for the tribe, and it is a core philosophy in Nenning culture that every individual must be strong enough to take care of himself. Those who cannot or violate the laws of the Horjalv are cast out as wandering Fylgjänni who either live as bandits or join the Radiant Scimitar as mercenaries.
