Nennings > Culture & Traditions
The gangling Nennings are tall and slender with strange oblong faces edged and weather-beaten like the face of a wild dog or horse hardened by the harsh wastelands. Nennings are among the mourning people yet most of them have strayed from the path of the great mother to become fierce warriors and hunters.

NenningWhat may seem as a cruel tradition to other cultures is actually an important element in Nenning spiritual thinking. They believe that immortal entities called Wandering Spirits are bound to a cycle of reincarnations and that the spirits choose only the strongest tribes. So to keep the tribe strong all members follow a proud tradition of competition and achievement, always striving to win and attract the strongest spirits for his or her descendents. The everlasting competitions and feuds culminate in the annual mating festival, the Vanuvirea where Nennings from all over the known world flock together to compete for the right to have offspring. Not all Nennings earn this right, and the Vanuvirea is known for its hardboiled competitions, bloody duels and wild dances. Once the mating festival is over males and female live separate lives for the rest of the year.
