Sar-Khalens > A Looming Threat
Long ago when the Khalens were known as the Sun-People a terrible curse corrupted their blood turning them into a twisted shadow of their once peaceful civilization. The only thing preserving their sanity now is the daily use of Soma. Those who neglect the tradition become Sar-Khalens, sick and wretched beings driven mad by the ancient curse, yet stronger and more fierce than their civilized cousins.
 Most often the attacks are poorly organized involving no more than a few united Zhengi at a time allowing the Radiant Scimitar to keep the barbarians from reaching the populated regions of the central Asdratis. Luckily Sar-Khalens hate each other nearly as much as they hate their enemies leaving them divided with feuds, but the Senate dreads the day when the Meguzir is able to muster all his Zhengi under a single banner. Much has been said about the origins of the Sar-Khalens and their connection to the Khalens. The Hespirah Senate has stated that Sar-Khalens are mutants deriving from Gjuron experiments on captive Khalens, yet sceptics claim the bond goes far deeper than this.
